How fast do BP's breathe?

Yep, I got my case of OCD when my new snakes came today. I noticed that the boy is breathing faster than the girl. Once I got the snakes in there the humidity hiked up to 71%, so I unplugged my humidifier, but the tubs were a bit foggy. Would that be why? Or am I just obsessing...compulsively. He really is breathing faster, though. SO, what is the normal breathing rate of a Ball Python?

depends on their mood. Just like you, if they become stressed, they will breathe harder and faster. Nothing to worry about if you just placed your snake into a new enclosure. Chances are by the time you read this, he'll be calmed down some, and his breathing will be back to normal.

Your snake doesn't have a breastbone or a diaphragm so it does breath differently than we do and it is more visible when they are under stress. Likely the little fellow will soon calm down, he had a big day. If the tubs are fogging up try a few more vent holes. You don't want condensation building up which will result in damp bedding.

Well, after last night and the humidifier being off I discovered we will still need to drill some more holes. (Plus now I am all jacked up from not having my humidifier. lol)

What would be the least stressful way to move them, drill the holes, and put them back. Should I put Sophie in with Slytherin for a few while we drill, and then move them back into their own when done, or just sit them on the bed, get it done, and put them back? I just don't want to freak the babies out.

I have a small, shoe-box sized tub with a few holes melted in it and a couple pieces of paper towel laid down. Whenever I need to mess with Kisasa's tub, I just place her in there and snap the lid on. It shouldn't add any undue stress to just move them quickly into a little holding tub...and then back into their homes when they are ready. You could even go smaller than the shoebox since yours are still young. My shoebox is a perfect holding tub for my 1100g snake. If you still have the deli-cup-thingies they were shipped in, you could use those as well. I would personally choose to make sure they were in separate holding boxes (of whatever type you choose).
