What's a good herpetology book?
I want to get a good in-depth book about all reptiles.. awhile back this book was recommended:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/013...e=UTF8&seller=
..but some of the reviewers said there are serious errors in it.
I just wondered if anyone knew of something better.. or if they liked this book.

I usually go for species specific books, they seem to be more accurate and have more detailed info. I have books for BP's, Bearded Dragons, African Tortoises and even rats.

you can try looking for college textbooks about herpetology. i am sure there are colleges that offer it as a more general, elective type class. thats about all i can think of.

My all time favorite is a very old one,
The Keeper and the Kept by Carl Kauffeld, Carl was one of Herpetology's true pioneers. This book is from the 50s but belongs on the shelf of every herper in my opinion.
There are some others I really like but most are species specific and that just does not seem to be what you are looking for.
Other books by Kauffeld that I really enjoy are Snakes and Snake Hunting and Snakes and Their Ways, but they are both out of print and quite pricey when you can find a copy.

Check out "the site" on the African House Snake - and get a free copy of "The Reptile Book", by Raymond L. Ditmars.
