    Re: camera flashes

I've wondered that, too. Mine doesn't seem to mind a bit.

    Re: camera flashes

I don't think the flash hurts the snake. I take pictures of my snakes, cats, gliders, and lizard all the time with no ill effects.

    Re: camera flashes

It won't necessarily hurt the snake, but it will stress them out if you take several pictures in a short amount of time. Any animal would get annoyed by this though. I would just use your judgement, and if your snake seems to be irritated by this, then I would stop taking pictures for the day.

    Re: camera flashes

It won't necessarily harm the snake, but it may startle or scare the snake, causing stress. Some species may even act out aggressively...I've had some AfRocks do it, by lunging when the flash went off, or get into a defensive stance afterwards. You should be fine.

    Re: camera flashes

I have a theory that animals don't like pictures. Look at 90% of the pictures of dogs with costumes/clothes on them. They all share the same suicidal look.

As for snakes, I don't believe that there is any physical damage. Flash is very similar to lightning so I don't think there is any level of danger. However, it can sometimes bring about a defensive response so if you take a few pictures, I wouldn't advise you stick your hand inside the tank.

    Re: camera flashes

mine don't seem to even notice the flash! tank seems to like the camera either way! whether the flash is on or off, he always tries to get down my arm to the camera. doesn't show any aggression, just 'sniffs' at it!
