How Long to Frozen Feeders Last
I was wondering what the shelf life of frozen feeders are if they are kept in the freezer. I've heard up to 6 months but I wanted to be sure. I'm planning on purchasing some more frozen feeders for my snakes since I got two more on Saturday. I was only planning on getting feeders for one snake so that's all I bought. I have 24 feeders left and have 3 snakes to feed. (the other is on fuzzies) So these feeders will only last us about 2 months with 3 mouths to feed.

It really depends on how you package them, what you've put them in, the temperature and type of your freezer, how many times they're taken out or moved around, and how often you open your freezer door.
If you can get them quality vacuum sealed and then toss them in some tupperware after, make sure your freezer is always at a good temperature and not opened constantly than upwards of 6 months should be fine.
If in two months you know you'll still be able to get good feeders, I'd wait and check out the condition of the last few after a couple months and then you'd have a better idea how long you can keep them.

Re: How Long to Frozen Feeders Last
The freezer is a little Frigadair (spelling) 5 cube foot freezer. It is opened once a night since I keep glider food in there but literally only for a few seconds. Other than that, it remains shut. I keep feeders in Ziplock bags and only open the ziplock bags to get feeders out once a week. I could try and get a temp tonight. I really want to find out if I can buy in bulk and keep the feeders for a longer period of time (like 6 months) so I won't have to constantly be buying feeders.

I package them into a separate package for each feeding, then put them all into a bigger package... Every time you open the package they're in moisture and air get in and that can lead to freezer burn.

Re: How Long to Frozen Feeders Last
So should I put them into smaller ziplocks and then put all those ziplocks into a bigger ziplock? (We have a lot of ziplocks. My grandmother just left for Alaska on a cruise and ALL her stuff was in ziplocks and then put into a suitcase.) So we never run out of ziplocks at home.

that's what I did (except big ziploc = tupperware)... make sure there's as little air as possible...

Re: How Long to Frozen Feeders Last
I was thinking of re packaging them in the vacuum bags (Foodsaver)...they should last a while in those...

Re: How Long to Frozen Feeders Last
Most ship with cold packs right? That at least keeps them semi-frozen or at least cold. I'm not sure about freezer life though. Maybe someone who buys in bulk might stop by and offer some answers.

They are usually shipped with dry ice and come perfectly solid.
