Flexwatt
I will be building a rack when I move into my own apartment (might start sooner). The rack will house only two ball pythons at the moment, but it will have the capacity to hold 7 additional ball pythons. The tubs, if I'm not mistaken will be 32qt. I was wondering what size flexwatt to get and how much of it.

Re: Flexwatt
I ordered the 11" wide stuff and is comes in 12" wide sections, so I cut each section in half. It took a minute but it is great in my rack
The Gang
1.5 Normals
1.0 Pastel Jungle Pastel
0.0.1 RTB (rescue)
2.2 Rats (9 2 weeks olds, and 12 3 day olds)
2.4 ASF Rats (Two Trios)
And a Partridge in a Pear Tree. LOL

Re: Flexwatt
Wait, so its advertised as 11'' but you get 12'' sections? And how much did it cost, per section?

Re: Flexwatt
The 11" is the width, not the length. It comes in one foot increments or you can get the "cut-anywhere" type. Rich at ReptileBasics has it.
For my 32qt tubs, I use a 2ft section of 3" flexwatt along the back of the rack(the long side of the tub), and a 2ft section of 11" flexwatt for the cool side ambient temps. Works quite well in my 75 degree room.

Re: Flexwatt
So if I bought the 11'' stuff, I would get 12'' sections and cut them to make 6'' sections and each 6'' section would go on the back bottom part of the tub, correct?

Re: Flexwatt
Oh, another question about Flexwatt. If the tubs are fit snuggly into the shelves, does the Flexwatt come in direct contact with the tubs?

You can't cut the flexwatt that way. If you want 6" wide pieces, you need to use two strips of 3" flexwatt.

Re: Flexwatt
Ok, so thats 2 strips of 3'' wide flexwatt per tub. That means I need a total of 18 strips of 3'' Flexwatt for 9 tubs. Right?

I dunno...there may be a much more effecient way to go about it, but I can't picture your setup, so I don't really know how to help except to say that you can't cut an 11" x 12" piece of flexwatt into 6" pieces.
You might want to rethink things a bit...because, while the lengths of flexwatt themselves don't cost much...if you're wiring each piece individually, that adds about $5 per piece (depending on who you buy it from)....for 18 pieces, you're looking at some serious costs...not to mention you have to figure out how to plug all that in.

Re: Flexwatt
Basically, I'm building an exact copy of this rack. I got the supply list and instructions from rushchaser.
