Ugh. i cant stand the title of the video. People like him/her make me feel like the only reason they got the snake was to watch it kill. I thought the way the snake finally got to the mouth and how he wrapped the branch interesting. but eh.

People need to learn to show respect for the mice/rats they feed their snakes. If it weren't for them, the snake wouldn't be alive. It's cruel to glorify the death of the feeder through pain and torture.

That mouse probably bit the ball python in the process. Its mouth is right there near the body of the snake. The title of the video also makes me wonder if thats the only reason this guy got the snake. Once I saw a video where these people all sat around while a snake attacked, killed, and ate a live goat!

I agree, the title is pretty bad, but i like how he constricted his prey, but hey, its nature, and we're only watching it as it's best.

I SAW THAT VIDEO!! Poor Goat!

    Re: What an AWESOME kill!!!

    Hi,

    Just my ,

The name of the file is a disgrace - it's also a rat not a mouse as far as I can tell (though I am happy to be proved wrong on that one).

There is no cool end hide at all and why wouldn't you try and move the rat once it went up there? ( I don't feed live - that was an actual question. )

I never really did get the facination with watching them kill their prey.

If I'd been standing behind him watching him making that video I would probably have boxed his ears and sent him to his room with no supper.

    Re: What an AWESOME kill!!!

Unfortunately the name of this thread isn't much better. When one takes into consideration ALL of the fire under which herpetoculture has come lately due to irresponsible ownership of various species, I have to question why ANYONE would publicize things of this nature.

I'm not quite what you'd call a bunny-hugger, but I'll also be damned if I sit quietly by while others give the "anti-herps-in-the-private-sector yahoos" more ammo to try to take my snakes away. If you don't think they're out there reading sites like this one, kingsnake.com & others, you're in for a big surprise.

Just my $2.00 (fuel surcharge & all that).

P.S. No offense intended whatsoever to the OP...just a wake-up call.

    Re: What an AWESOME kill!!!

I originally hoped this thread would be buried, but seeing how it's getting a little attention I thought I'd chime in.

I don't see anything "awesome" about the video... quite the contrary. (Besides, what exactly is an awesome kill? That's like saying "Wonderful cancer")

I also find it odd that the OP felt compassion for a goat in another video, but thought this Ball doing a lousy job at killing the rat was nature at its best.

Anyway, I can't speak for the people on this forum, but I personally don't get any joy at watching my snakes kill their prey. I realize it's necessary and hope that they can do it as fast an efficient as possible, but I respect the prey as much as I do my snakes.

I agree, Snake keepers are very misunderstood and unfortunately many people think we enjoy death and all kinds of evil stuff. Bad publicity is something we don't need!
