Kennedy Space Center
While we were in Florida, we visited Kennedy Space Center, so I thought I would post some pics from there. We were there for about 6 hours and still didn't see everything, but we were pretty exhausted after Daytona and 2 days at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure by that time, haha. I would love to go again and stay all day, sometime!
This, apparently, is a Rocket Garden!

I thought the price of admission included actually blasting these two off??

This is a big...rocket...thing..

This is supposed to simulate the feeling of walking to an actual shuttle. Except without the huge spacesuit and nausea and crippling fear. Ok, I'm not astronaut material, whatev!

Space suit!

My guys

This is the building where they are building some rocket boosters for the next shuttle mission:

Big space shuttle!

Space shuttle with model of space shuttle showing what everything actually is:

This is, um...something big with a Command Module:

Of course, now Marc wants to be an astronaut.
There was a lot to see there, including an Imax theater, launch pad, memorials, and a Shuttle Launch Experience that was cool. Definitely go, if you get the chance!

The space center sure has changed since I moved up here (so Im told). We only lived about 17 miles from this building, the V.A.B or Vehicle Assembly Building. My dad went to work at N.A.S.A in 1958 and actually worked a couple of years in the V.A.B. He was a DATA processor. It's very possible that you passed right by our old property on the way to the Cape.
Glad you enjoyed your time there.
The only difference between tattooed people and non-tattooed people is....
....Tattooed people don't care if you're not tattooed.

Re: Kennedy Space Center
Wow Sarah that looks like a great place to visit. I know both my boys and heck the big boy aka Mike would go nuts in that place. We're planning to hook a Daytona snake show visit up with a family vacation ourselves in a few years (waiting for Mikey to get big enough to go on all rides at any amusement park type thing).

Oh, I definitely did!
I can't imagine living close enough to see every launch, that would just be amazing. It was funny, all the videos we watched had people sayinig how their job was absolutely the second coolest job there (astronaut being first, of course!). Must be a great place to work

Oh, you'll all have a great time if you go, Jo! Great idea on the height requirement thing Marc barely squeaked into the Shuttle Launch Experience, at 48". He's a shorty for a 2nd grader, though.
My advice is to be sure to check admission price at that time and get a coupon beforehand. I didn't realize it would cost as much as it did, and luckily a lady in line had an extra coupon she gave us.

Re: Kennedy Space Center
looks like you had one hell of a time sarah, if you dont mind my asking, how much ARE the tickets?

Re: Kennedy Space Center
Thanks, Laura!
Ben, oh yeah, we did have a great time, wish I could have stayed longer.
Adult tickets are $38, kids are $28. The coupon we had was for $3 off per ticket, so with tax it cost us about $140 to get in. There are several upgrade choices, too, including lunch with an astronaut.
It was worth the price, I'd like to go again sometime

Re: Kennedy Space Center
wow...
Can't say I was expecting such prices! Then again, I guess even N.A.S.A. is feeling the gas crunch!
i have been to space center houston more times then I care to count, but it doesn't have as nice a rocket garden!

Re: Kennedy Space Center
Yeah, I was not expecting the cost, but it's a huge complex that you get bussed around. And they only use a fraction of the land they own, the rest is set up as a nature preserve. Never knew that before, haha!
I've never even been to Houston, maybe I'll get to see that one someday
