    Hide for 41qt sterilite?

I'm gonna be getting an adult female ball python *5ft, 2300g* soon. I bought a 41qt sterilte tub at walmart along with a small kitty litter box. Problem being the kitty litter box wont fit width wise, unless I turn it and take up useable space. Anyone have any other good hide ideas?

check out sterilite 10 qt dish tubs. they are usually in the isle with the kitchen stuff like dish strainers and stuff. i used to use them for washing dishes when i only had a tiny sink. they are pretty big but not as big as the kitty litter pans i think.

    great suggestion!!!

you may even find something at a dollar store that'll work. although those tubs aren't very expensive at all. i know, i just bought some for our bunnies to pee in LOL

hmmm... i wonder if anyone actually uses them for dishes LOL

    I use these:
    http://www.fortexfortiflex.com/roundfeeders.html

The rubber is heavy and solid, dishwasher safe. It's designed to be used by horses, so it's really durable. My crazy Lab has yet to destroy his. Cut a notch in the side and turn upside down. Heavy, snug, and dark. My girls love them.

They cost me about $3.50 at the pet store, either in the dog or horse section.

    Re: Hide for 41qt sterilite?

We use some large, heavy black rubber dog dishs from the feed store. They are hard as heck to cut into due to the thick rubber but the bigger snakes love them and they stand up to wear really well. I can't remember what we paid for them but I know it was under $5.00. We use these for the females once they hit a good size and they generally fit them well up to around 1,500 grams or so before they outgrow them.

Jo, those are the ones I'm talking about. :-) I used heavy-duty kitchen shears. I love that the rubber is soft enought that I don't have to worry about sharp edges like with a hard plastic hide.

    Re: Hide for 41qt sterilite?

They are great! Heavy enough the big snakes can't haul them around too much, they seem to like that big flat roof to laze about on or hunt from, easy as heck to clean and nice and dark inside for the snakes. I had to have my husband cut through them with wire snips....no way is my grip strong enough LOL. Like you say...the nice thing is when you cut into them...there's no jagged edges. I'm thinking one of those drill thingies might work better, to put a big round hole in the roof (what in the heck are they called????)

I need to hit the feed store here in Toledo as we bought ours up in northern MI and I sure hope I can find more locally.
