i swear.

i had a check bounce because they did not draw the money from my savings- even though they're supposed to cover doing that. well, due to that & there cute little rule where if you dont have x in your savings they charge you.

before that charge, i had plenty enough to cover that check. now i'm like 1.97 off. GOD i am so pissed.

i am going to go up there today and see why they decided to not draw the money out of my savings ugh.

this has happened so many times before i cannot wait to close my account with them i swear.

*edit- i should say. if you dont have x amount in savings, regardless if you have a million dollars in checking, they will charge you. neat huh? i cannot wait to get out. that crap was the last straw for me when they added it in.

I understand your frustration, but I must warn you that you are not going to get any satifaction from the Credit Union.


The reason that they have rules like minimum balances in your Savings acount is that a lot of people open an account and then draw it down to a ZERO balance.

It costs the bank money to manage each account and once the account falls below a certain amount the bank is no longer making money off your money and requires a fee to offset their costs.

As for taking the money out of your savings account to cover a check, they will not do it if it will cause the savings account to fall below the minimum balance. You should be able to find that in the fine print somewhere.

I'm sorry that you had this problem. Perhaps you should get rid of the savings account altogether and just have a checking account. That is what I did for many years when I was in the Army.

Ah thanks. I plan on changing banks when i move anyways. the cu isnt in the town or anywhere near where i plan on moving. I've been looking at the ING as a possible place to store savings and keeping only a checking for quite a while.
