    Uth

Im thinking of possible ways to keep my tank at the right temps during the winter (new place doesnt have free heat so it won't be like 80 in the apt anymore). I was wondering can I basically cover the entire bottom of the cage with flexwatt? I could have one strip for the hot side at 95, and have the rest of the strips set at 80. I figure with this I wont have to be as worried about the ambient temp, although I will still keep an eye on that as well.

Yes you can, all of my racks have this. 11" flexwatt as the cool side set to 84, 3" flexwatt for hotspot, set to 95. Works great, just make sure to use thermostats.

Yeah change of plans, was talking to my dad about it (he does HVAC for a living) and a basc got a "no way" for using it. app its not the safest so i told him what i need and hes gonna look into it for me. as long as i have the right temps and its easy to manage, i really dont care what i use.

He's saying that flexwatt isn't that safe? I'd disagree - if it was so dangerous there's no way people would trust it with thousands of dollars worth of animals. If you're smart with it and use a high quality thermostat then it's as safe as anything else.
