    NERD/ZooCreatures

I've heard alot of good things about NERD and ZooCreatures off this forum and RTB.net.
no, they're pretty rude actually. at least when you're not paying for anything. I had my BCI taken to NH with Kara from Daytona (got her from Primareptilia. Very beautiful snake). There was this air of arrogance surrounding her, and you can tell she looked at me and my friend as if we didnt know what the hell we were doing with the snake. Probably thought i was gonna take her home and feed her live whilst supplying heat with a heat rock. I bet if they were taking money out of my pocket, it would be completely different. I tried shootin some wind, asking about daytona, she's like "It's none of your business!"

Christ woman, learn how to have a conversation with someone.

The petstore is just as bad, I called them up, asking if my snake had arrived there yet, and i got an offended "what?" as if the sales associate took the phone call as pestering. she informed me the animals werent back from daytona, and when i asked her when she thinks they'll be back, i get this prissy "I dunno" once again, with that BLATENT hint of irritation in her voice.

They may be good to PAYING customers, but in the end, it boils down to money. They dont care about anything else but making money off of their animals. Well, I'm done with my rant. Lets see how badly i get flamed by NERD's followers.

    Re: NERD/ZooCreatures

Far from a NERD follower, however....

Kara and Andy both have helped in the past whether they had gotten a sale from me or not. Kara even took the time to call me in regards to some Blood Python help. Far from what I'd call bad people at all. How did you speak to them? Were you snotting, snobby, or rude with the 'know it all' attitude. I've seen it quite often regarding giants atleast, when someone doesn't hear what they'd like to...

Maybe you took the situation the wrong way?...

    Re: NERD/ZooCreatures

Let's start with the your attitude. Re-read your last sentence....that's attitude and basically a confrontational stance. If you've something to say, say it without your own attitude before you accusing others of the same behaviour. Assuming this forum allows "flaming" isn't appropriate. That's #1.

#2 - how much contact have you had with Kara and these two companies? Is this a long standing issue or are you basing this one what, two short contacts? During the biggest, most major show of the entire year you are upset that Kara didn't have time for you? That the store employee may have been less than patient due to their own pressures that day? I've never vended at a major snake show but really it's only common sense to understand that during this time major vendors will be under intense time constraints as they deal with the show and moving valuable living stock over large distances.

#3 why was NERD transporting your snake? Did you pay for this service since it was not a snake they sold to you? Was it done as a favor? Did you understand the timeline for arrival of your snake or just make a lot of assumptions?

It seems to me that making a statement like this..."They may be good to PAYING customers, but in the end, it boils down to money. They dont care about anything else but making money off of their animals." is a pretty broad statement based on what appears to be a couple of small incident that you've blown way out of proportion.

    Re: NERD/ZooCreatures

    Wow, let's see.

I have to agree with Andrew on this one. How DID you speak to them?

They dont care about anything else but making money off of their animals.
I've known Kara personally for a little over a year now. I've never spent one dime with NERD or Zoo Creatures, so money has nothing to do with it.

Kara and Kevin both have been warm and inviting to me, both take time to answer my endless questions, and both invited me into their home for a week - and still, I've not spent a dime with them. And still I'm received warmly.

I know Kara well enough to say with confidence that she doesn't blow someone off unless she has a good reason to.

As far as the petstore knowing when the animals would be back - they probably didn't know and were busy when you called.

Jo, PrimaReptilia are friends with Kevin and Kara and were selling animals there as well, so they probably had arranged for them to do shipping for them.

    Re: NERD/ZooCreatures

Hmmm so Kevin and Kara are shipping snakes as a favor for another vendor and to accommodate that vendor's customer (the OP of this thread). This would mean - just common sense - that they are eating the cost and time to do so just to be nice folks and help someone out.

Ohhhhh really sounds like they are just in it for the cash, doesn't it....give me a break!

To the OP...my gran taught me when somebody does me a favour...I ought to say thank you.

    Re: NERD/ZooCreatures

The troubling thing here is how you turn a single incident that took place in a very high-stress environment into some overall condemnation of all the people and the whole operation of NERD/Zoo Creatures.

As a participant, a show like Daytona might feel like fun and games to you...but to the vendors like NERD, it is extremely hard work and constant worry about the well being of their animals that starts long before any customers start walking around, and goes on long after they all go home and go to bed. AND they're doing favors for folks who haven't even spent money with them.....doesn't sound the least bit rude to me, much less "all about the money."

And I've met the employees of Zoo Creatures as well. Some have better people skills than others. But it sounds to me like you were already feeling miffed that Kara couldn't give you her undivided attention and probably let that attitude show through on the phone as well. Maybe instead of critizing everyone else's "problems" in dealing with people, you should look in the mirror first.

    Re: NERD/ZooCreatures

what I am reading here is that there has not been any problem at all with your transaction, and no actual words were spoken that could be construed as offensive or non-professional.

everything you are taking issue with took place in your own mind, as you interpreted what sounds like a very normal business transaction at a show.

I hope you see that you are imagining a problem, and that there is no actual problem. You are causing yourself stress .... you'll be happier if you just deal with the facts and not assume that people don't like you

For the record, NERD and it's owners are extremely gracious with their time and knowledge in my experience. They're wonderful and friendly...if you just open your eyes and stop imagining hostility.
