    Inbreeding with Herps

    Is this a problem?

    Never even thought about it.

    It worked fine with me and my aunt.

    I think it's ok to an extent. I wouldn't keep breeding back generation after generation. But if you had two hets and produced one visual from that pairing then I think it's fine to breed that visual back to the parent so you can get 50/50 of het and visual for example. Or breed two het siblings together.

    I dont think it affects reptiles as much as it does mammals. there was a thread about this awhile ago. I'm sure it happens in the wild. Its considered line breeding, kind of like what they do for german shepards and pit bulls and also how they make minature horses. I dont think its to much of a problem as long as it isnt done over to many generations.
