20g long too small for BP?

    Well, honestly.

I have the 2 KSB's and too be quite honest I'd rather have a second bp.

Could I house a bp in a 20 gallon long?

I read somewhere that a decent rule of thumb was: the tanks L + W = the relative length of BP that can be housed within.

As far as i know snakes dont grow to the size of the tank...a 20g would be fine for a while...if it is a baby...but a 30 is as big as you will ever need. But then again tubs for reacks arent anywhere near that big and they do fine so..that is just my 2cents from what i have learned.

    I was thinking as well.

The 20 gallon long is bigger than most tubs people use, right?

20 long dimensions are like, 30x12x12 or so, I think you should be fine with that setup as long as heat and humidity stay put.

I know a lot use the 41 qt tubs which are ~ 36x16x6". So they're a little larger floor space wise than a 20g. But for the largest ball pythons, I htink a 20g would be ok.

a 20L would last you awhile, but you'll end up moving him/her to a 30 gal breeder tank before adult hood.

the 41 qt tubs on my rack are larger then a 20L tank, it is just not as high as a tank, which a ball python could careless about.

your best bet is to use tubs until he/she reaches her adult size. while they are in tubs save up some money and buy a nice plastic display cage from RBI or boaphile. those are 100x easier to maintain heat and humidity.

Save up for a 31qt rack that you could also us 15qt tubs in. I have one of these right now and house my whole collection in it. I'll eventually have to buy another (soon) because some of them are growing out of the 15qt tubs. You need a big girl for a 41qt tub, most juvies will do fine in a 15qt and sub adults in a 31qt. Most adult males will be fine in a 31qt their entire lives. I spent way more money buying tubs, flexwatt and so on before switching to a rack system and I regret not buying one outright.
