This thread is for those who are mad at me from my earlier threads.
I have come to conclusion within the next few days I might be making a purchase of a 30 gallon tank for my baby ball python. This tank will be good for him for the rest of his life, I know that he is small, in conclusion I will be putting a Plexiglas divider in the tank to make it much smaller for him. The tank isn't too tall, and has lots of floor space, I'm not too sure of the dimensions. As he grows I will move the divider, I am going to be purchasing a Herpstat ASAP and as well with some flexwatt. I also have a heat lamp for him, My only concern is humidity. In the tank he is now it is very hard to keep control of it, So I have now decided to definitely stick with a plastic tub. Once everything comes in, it will be a go. But I am kindly asking for your help because you know so much more about ball pythons than me. Over the past couple days that I have had Spartan he has been great, he eats well now and doesn't seem to be stressed, I am so proud of my purchase. Please don't be upset with me, everyone makes mistakes, I really would appreciate some friendly advice. Thank you guys so much, I really do appreciate every bit of it.

I would suggest that if you are having trouble with humidity, and you already have your snake in plastic, that you should stick with plastic.



I know, you probably want to set up a beautiful display and environment, but it will be (definitely) lost on your snake. He will probably spend 99% of the daylight hours in a hide (so you are not going to see him anyway.) At least with a tub you can get your temps and humidity perfect no matter what is going on inside your home.



If you really want to set up a beautiful glass cage, I suggest you build a plant terrarium or a fish tank.

I have done it. You just need to be careful and slow. Do not bend the UTH very much. The sticky is usuable over and over. I moved one UTH five times untill I got it placed just right.

Terrarium moss holds humidity great. Its what I use in my 20 glass long and I maintain great temperatures as well.

I mist every other day, and make sure to spray the moss.

If you plan on moving the UTH in the future use the following:

Actually the best thing to do is to remove the UTH gently. Then apply the UTH to a sheet of tin foil. Trim the excess tin foil. Then just use regular duct tape to tape the UTH to your "whatever" the tin foil will not hurt anything and it will keep the UTH from sticking. Use the duct tape sparingly. Just enough to hold the UTH in place.

If you do not plan on moving the UTH in the future, remove it gently and then afix it to the new surface.

I have some advice; you should get a tub instead. It is so much easier to maintain the right temps and humidity than in a glass tank. Not to mention, tubs are so much less $$. I used to be stubborn in my usage of tanks. I tried tubs, and I will never go back.

Yeah its official. I'm using my tub ASAP, I think I'm going to buy a smaller one though, I have a 30 qt for when hes older. I just need flexwatt and a thermostat. I think I might get a Herpstat but man they are expensive. So yeah 2 weeks or so is when our banker said she should be debt free, so hopefully I can order it, and my boss is helping me out by giving me more hours. but in the mean time while he is in his tank i got the temps up, warm side is around 90, and cool side is around 80. and i got the humidity up to 50%, seeing how before it was at 40%.

If you don't want to get a Herpstat, you can go with a Johnson Controls or a Ranco, both of which are $75. That may be a bit easier on the budget and they work fine with flexwatt.
