You are looking for expanded PVC...so you will need to look locally (the cheapest way vs. shipping) for a plastics company that can supply it.

Just a note: Unless you are going to make several racks it won't be cost effective (vs. buying one already made) as they take special tools/jigs and glue to cut/bend/weld them correctly.

That depends...if the reason you are building one is cost then yes go with Melamine (will be much cheaper in the long run)

If you are just doing it for the experience and wanting something special then PVC makes really nice racks but plan to pay for them the first times around. They get much cheaper when done in volume.

    KYSHA,

How far are you from Pompano Beach, FL? I ask because I deal with a company called Piedmont Plastics here in New Orleans, LA and they have a location in Pompano Beach. I use a 1/2" thick Expanded PVC product sold by them called Aquaplas 1 or M-PVC (M stands for Marine) and I am paying about $90.00 per sheet which includes ripping it down to the sizes I need and then I cut up the ripped lengths to exactly what I need.

With this material, drill, table saw and a little experience with routers you can make a commercially identical racks and cages for about half the price of what's on the market.

    Good luck...
