for all acu~rite owners.
i know the acu~rite thermo/hygrometer monitors humidity and temps..but it also monitors in/out temps..which one should i be more concerned with? the IN temp or the OUT temp? not to really sure and i dont know how it measures the outside areas temperature if its inside a tank..:/.

Re: for all acu~rite owners.
the outside temp comes from the probe. the inside temp is wherever the actually acurite thermometer is sitting.

The 'inside' setting measures the temps/humidity at the readout, and the 'outside' setting measures with the probe, so you should set them to 'outside' unless you want to know the temps in the rest of the room.

Re: for all acu~rite owners.
I put the probe (outside temp) on the heat source and the thermometer itself on the cool side of the cage. (inside temp). So inside temp should be 80-82 and outside temp should be 90-92.

you have the accu-rite thermometer inside the tank as well? was wondering if I should do that.. as Im still trying to figure out how to use the damn thing. Recently purchased four of them. two for each of my corn snakes and two for the future bp tanks. thank goodness Iam testing it on my corn snake, who is more forgiving on husbandry mistakes.

Yes, the whole unit goes in the tank. The base on the cool end to monitor cool temps and humidity, and the probe on the warm end to monitor warm temps.

Re: for all acu~rite owners.
Here's a basic Acu-Rite setup.

On the left is the actual unit. What it reads will show up on the screen as the IN temp aka the cool side.
On right you can see the thin black probe cord. The probe itself is tucked just inside the hide (it won't bother your snake). What it reads will show up on the screen as the OUT temp aka the warm side inside the hide.
Also on the screen you will see overall humidity.
You can either bury the long probe cord under the substrate or lead it out and back into the tub from one end to the other (I prefer that, keeps it out of the snake's way). If you feed live, remember to remove the Acu-Rite before putting a live rodent in the enclosure. If your snake poops or pees on the probe, just wipe it clean with a baby butt wipe.
