Cold side temp question?

The temp in my cage is around 90-94 on warm side but i cant get the cold side below 86-88. Its a glass aquarium with a screen top. What can i do to lwer the temp onthe cold side? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I was having a similar problem... The only things that made a difference were 1. misting with really cold water to raise the humidity. and 2. Moving the tub to a different room in the house.

Once moved my temps evened out. It was also suggested by a member here to put the enclosure on the floor since heat rises. If you do that it would be best if you don't have any pets that have free reign of the house, and also that you don't have an UTH directly on carpet as it's in the warning list of things not to set the tank on.

Try duct taping your screen on both sides so that the tank will hold more humidity. If you're using a general heat source like a lamp etc try going for a lower wattage or ditching it altogether.

What are you using for a heat source? I assume it's an overhead heat source which would heat the whole enclosure. Under tank heating is best and most recommened for BP's. Also what are you measuring temps with? If you give a better descrioption of setup we can give you better advice.

Yes currently i am using the overhead light. I just have two digital thermometers with the temp probs on the hot and cold side.

I second Raul. If you get a UTH, you will probably end up with better control of your temps. Keep your overhead light, so that if you need to raise ambient temps in the future, you could put a smaller bulb in your fixture, and help raise the cool side, if the UTH won't do it by itself. I hope that wasn't too confusing.

Also overhead light/heat tends to dry out the air and makes controling humidity difficult. Belly heat is also better for digestion. Always use a thermostat or temp control device! Good Luck
