I was in the local Petworld pick up some fuzzies, and some substrate for my BPs and i was looking threw there collection of snakes, and i saw a little critter cage with a label reading "HET PIED BALL PYTHON" $99.99, so i have heard plent of stories on here about people asking the stores if they even know what it is there selling!!! So i asked the lady (about 21 maybe 22 yrs old) what % the Piebalds where, and she just looked at me with a stupid look on her face, and said, "What?" so i asked her again, and she said she had no idea, long story short..... some random guy came in the story and SAID it was Het Pied and sold it to them for $50! i was like hell a normal BP in there is $45. So i asked what garantee is there that it is truely a HET Piebald, she said that there isn't one! So i was thinking this place has absolutely no idea what they just purchased, and they said the guy that sold it to them would be bringing in a female today and they will ask him for me! I told them well ask him if you can get his number for me too, so i can come and see the parents of the SO CALLED HET and find out if this purchase would be worth it! and to see if he is a breeder and to see what else he as to offer!

Know am i doing the right thing or am i starting to take on the addicition of BPs?

Could have been a het male, might not have been. Whoever sold it to the pet store could have been telling the truth or they could have been talking it up to sweeten the deal for the store.

Het pied males make great gifts though!

wow.. that would kinda suck for that potential buyer getting excited about a "het piebald" i would love to have one for myself though!

This is why that new buyers need to step back, wait for the excitement of the possibility to level out, and really think about what they are buying. Too many new and experienced buyers alike have been screwed by scumbag sellers who misrepresent their animals. Buy your hets from trusted sources only. Petland is generally NOT considered to be a good source for hets for anything.

There was a boa at my local "reptile shop" and it's tag read, "Colombian Boa - HET - $199"

I asked the clerk, "Het for what?"

She replied, "Um albino, pastel, all of it, the guy we bought it from said it was a het"

This was the "reptile expert" store too...moral of the story is do not trust 9 out of 10 pet stores.

So when i get off work today i'm going to see if they got his contact number for me and then i will contact him and ask nicely if i could come by and prove it for myself!!! And even say he does have a Pied DOES NOT mean this is HET, or even came from the same clutch the Pied had!!!
