    Code:
    Pastel het VPI Axanthic?
    Bingo, we have a winner.

We bred our VPI Axantic male to a Pastel, she laid 6 eggs of which two were severe boob eggs that didn't make it.

Of those four eggs, 0.0.3 were Pastel Het-Axanthic BUT we weren't expecting this type of look with all that blushing, I can hardly imagine what a VPI Axanthic Pastel will look like and lets not even think of a VPI Axanthic Super Pastel

Thank you all for the nice comments.

The VPI Axanthic must have been a pastel too looking at those babies.

If the axanthic was a pastel, there "shouldn't" have been a normal in the clutch.

    Crazy looking babies.... congrats!

Yes, there could be normals in a pastel x pastel clutch. Only if one of the parents was a super pastel would there not be any normals.

But the OP said he was sure the babies weren't supers, so that seems to rule out there being any pastel gene in the daddy. I wonder if the het form of VPI axanthic has affected other pastels this sharply? Could make for a fun marker if you were dealing with possible hets.

The VPI Axanthic sire produced other normal het clutches and never produced a Pastel.

    Here he is

I think what he was saying was, if the het VPI Axanthic trait has this effect on het pastels, then it may be possible to test for the Axanthic trait by breeding a possible het to a pastel.

There are no het Pastels unless you're counting Pastels as the het and Super Pastels as the Visual morph.

    Hi,

I think he meant using a pastel as a means to test the authenticity of a possible het vpi axanthic.

Has anyone else ever tried the combo to see if its an individual snake effect or a line one?

that's exactly what I meant. Technically, a regular pastel is in fact het for the trait.
