    heat mat

    my friend is using a heat mat inside the tank is this bad??

    Depends on if the temperatures in the heat mat are being controlled or not.


    If not, I would go with yes, it is bad. They can get very very warm, and possibly cause burns on your snake.

    Get a thermostat and make sure the temps are good, and then it will be fine

    Heat mat INSIDE the tank is very bad news. Besides the risk of burns from an uncontrolled heat source that has already been mentioned, there is also a chance of electric shock and/or the mat shorting out due to coming in contact with the inevitable liquid spills inside a tank.

    Please, please ask your friend to take it out and place it on the outside of the tank where it is meant to be used.

    is it under the bedding? and why would your friend use an UNDERTANK heater inside the tank? Well, at least it's not a hot rock...

    yeah, JLC is right. I mean.. it is an UNDERTANK heater...

    he said the guy he got it off told him to put it in the tank!! iv already told him to put in under it!!

    Well, all you can do is tell him that the guy who told him that was wrong. And explain why. Whether or not he chooses to listen to you and fix it is out of your hands.
