    Albino percentile question...

I am slowly catching on too the breeding but i have a couple of winters before my female is old enough to breed, but the more and more i see Albinos i really want one!!! What are the percentages of breeding to completely NORMAL BP with one another, and get an Albino in the cluth? What can i do to increase the percentages?

My other question is if i purchase an Albino, what is the average cost for one because i have seen so many different prices i'd like to know how much they go for, I have seen price ranges any where from $500-$3000, for Just Albino, no other combinations, like the Burgandy Albino that was on here the other day!

Any help will be great for my knowledge, and my even help me purchase or breed to get one!

    Very Respectfully,
    Matt

    Re: Albino percentile question...

$1000 for an albino currently but buy from a trusted breeder to make sure you get quality. High contrast is better than faded. you will not produce an albino from a normal to normal breeding. you need to have an albino and you will produce 100%hets with this and then breed the hatchlings back to the albino to produce albinos

edit: this is if you want to use your current snake, you could also purchase a pair of 100% het albinos ( seen them for $450 +) and breed them to produce albinos and 66% hets

if you cant afford to take care of it, dont get it

    Re: Albino percentile question...

I am by no means a professional, but breeding a normal to a normal will not get you albino, unless both have the recessive gene. You would need each to be 100% het for albino to produce any albino offspring.

I am not sure on the price of one, I have not looked at them at all so I couldn't say.
I hope that makes some since.

    Re: Albino percentile question...

you would need to breed a male 100% het albino and a female 100% het albino then you will get a 1:4 chance to have an albino.

if you buy a female albino and a male normal and breed them, you will get all 100% hets. you will then raise a male up and breed with the female albino you originally breed. then you will have a 50/50 chance to get an albino.

females of any morph are going to call more then the males, and take longer to mature....

Prices vary from size of animal and if it is a het(normal that carries gene) or homo(visible morph). Albinos are a recessive trait so both parents have to carry the albino gene either visibly or as a normal looking but het for trait in order to produce a visible albino. Pieds and clowns are also recessive so thats why you will see the hets advertised much cheaper than visible morphs.

Dominant or co-dominant trait only needs one parent to carry gene for trait. Example spiders, pastels, lessers, cinamons and so on.

Adam (8ball pythons) has males $100 and the females $400, but you'll have to email him cause he might be out. but those are just some prices for you.
