I don't think I consider it "rude" if someone doesn't post an intro before they begin participating....but it certainly does help, and shows they likely possess certain social graces that make getting along in this sort of community a little easier.

I love my snakes. As a kid they always fascinated me, but my mom was repulsed by them. I could barely get her to take me to the reptile house at the zoo!
