Well theres a couple of questions you have to be able to answer as you know;

Can you adequately quarantine this animal from your own collection for at least 2 months?

Can you afford to have it treated at a vets bearing in mind that it might not only be an R.I.?

Personally if he could be talked into taking it to the vet and learning how to set everything up so it gets happy, well and eating that would be the best solution for me. Another convert to BP's and a happy snake all in one fell swoop.

Have you actually examined the snake yet? One thing to worry about is, if he really is a reptile freak, if he buys a lot of reptiles mites are something I'd definately keeping an eye out for.
