Ball Pythons and Drowning
Was thinking of getting the super duper large water dish from exo-terra, but I have heard of some peoples snakes drowning...so I wanted to know if this was common thing with big dishes or just a random occurrence.
I have the large and as many know the difference between large and extra large is huge. So what should I do? Should I keep what I have or go with the upgrade?

Re: Ball Pythons and Drowning
Why "upgrade" in the first place? I mean....I suppose you can if you want...but why spend money you don't have to? A fully grown female BP will do just fine with a little deli-cup for fresh water. They don't need swimming pools.
That being said...as for the question of drowning, I wouldn't put something that size in with a little baby BP...but so long as there is no lid or other obstruction to them finding their way out, I dont think there's too much risk of drowning in their water bowl.

Re: Ball Pythons and Drowning
Honestly, and someone correct me if Im wrong. There is no need for your BP to need a dish large enough to soak in. If your humidity is right it will not need aid with shedding. I believe soaking BP's have either low humidity or mites.

Re: Ball Pythons and Drowning
I know people that have drowned ball pythons in water bowls with lids that had access holes cut into them ... the snake can figure out how to get in, but can't get out.
