newspaper is a substrate... I use it for most of my snakes, if they really need they go underneath it. IMO it's much better than reptile carpet.
Yes newspaper is a substrate, He wants to know what should he put in the bottom of the substrate he wants to use, so I made it clear that newspaper is sutable to use as a coverup for whatever substrate he wants to use on top. Does that sound a little better sorry if you didnt get it.
