I'm sorry to heat your little guy died, it is always hard to lose a beloved pet, especially one that has been a part of your life for so long.
If you don't mind me asking, was the Vet you went to a herp Vet? I agree with Brad, long-term exposure to 100 degrees did nothing to help the infection. Bumping the cool end temps up a few degrees is the most I would ever recommend to help fight infection, and even then I wouldn't do so if the animal was being treated with antibiotics. I would highly doubt your Vet is very knowledgable about herps, find a new one.
