Having trouble regualting temps and humidity

I picked up a glass tank along with supplies this morning and been working on it all day
I havent had any problem with getting the warm side up to par. have a lamp and a UTH running on a thermostat thats staying @ about 90.5 for the most part of the day. But i am having problems with the cool side and the humidity
I cant get the humidity to raise above 45%. I read about the foil over the lid and i will take a attempt with that 2morrow. Also would like to know if misting would be a good choice
But my house is fairly warm so my cool side temp is hovering between 84-86
I havent been able to get it any lower then 84.4. Any info anyone can give me on get these to a acceptable area would be greatly appreciated

i would do the tin-foil trick tomorrow morning and that should help maintain the humidity in the vivarium. Also, 84 is a good temp to hold the cool side on, so I see no reason to try and fiddle with that. Once you cover the lid, I don't see misting being necessitated aside from during shed when you want to bump it up to 70% humidity.

Tanks are very hard to maintain temps and humidity. Tubs are the way to go. You may not like the veiw as much but your snake will thank you for it.

It's not much of a difference between the warm side and the cool side.

You're going to find a glass enclosure "challenging", although it can be done with a lot of work, and sometimes a lot of money to get all the necessary "extras". Here's a great write up on how to get a glass tank set up properly.

What are you using to measure your temps, by the way? The stick on dials from the pet store or a digital thermometer? Are you measuring temps at ground level, or is your thermometer mounted higher in the enclosure?

I had a 20 gallon once - the light will suck the humidity out of the enclosure, and it was necessary to mist 3-4 a day. Once I switched to a tub set-up, I never looked back.

2 thermometers are zilla, digital and the third is a acurite digita thermomter with humidity.
I went to super walmart last nite and picked up sum duck tape and foil. Got the humidity where it is supposed to be. The temps are staying about steady so i should be receiving my BP later on this evening
