Re: MAn vs wild tv show.
On the latest episode (this past Friday) he was in Australia and caught a large Olive Python. He carried it (alive) with him, over a river, till he was ready to eat it. Then he swung it around in the air and smacked it on a rock. Next shot him cooking and eating it.
I felt terrible for the snake but love the show.

While I can understand the concern, especially on a herp loving forum like this - let's not forget that these examples are not senseless killings, but rather killings for survival. The whole premise of the show is how to survive if you were to find yourself stranded in such a place.

Just to clarify I am not concerned...I love the show. It reminds me of the show "Fear Factor" where they ate disgusting stuff...now my whole family waits till Friday nights to watch this new season to see what he will eat next.
He drinks his own urine on this past Friday's show as well.

Re: MAn vs wild tv show.
I am not a fan of the show... he is far too callous about killing animals on that show.
If you like that type of show try watching survivorman. He doesnt have the luxury of having camera men, so I think it is better anyway. They just drop him off in the middle of no where by himself with some camera gear and give him a week to find civilization. When he kills an animal he always makes a speech about how he doesnt like to take an animals life but in a situation like this you might need to...
I understand the need to eat obviously, but survivorman just seems to be a lot more respectful about it. He also kills them more humanely then man vs wild...

Re: MAn vs wild tv show.
I take it this is Bear Grylls we are talking about. If so, whenever it was aired over here in the UK it was titled Born Survivor. Look out for the episode when he's stranded in the African savannah. He makes a tasty meal out of a freshly killed and devoured Zebra carcass and gets a tasty refreshing drink from some elephant dung. Excellent television but hopefully i never find myself in such dire straits
0.1 Albino Cali King, Gertrude
0.1 Mexican Black King, Gladys
0.0.1 Bairds Rat Snake
1.1 Lavender corns
1.0 Huachuca Mountain King (L.p. Woodini)
The wee man, Oscar, Border Collie

Re: MAn vs wild tv show.
I actually don't read it as being callous about it, just very matter of fact. Let's be honest if you were out in the middle of nowhere trying to survive, I really doubt you'd be making pretty speaches over your "dinner". I sure know I'd be a lot more concerned with getting needed protein and calories (though having to eat slugs...I'd probably expire first LOL).
