Welph, my Jeep has a leak. In heavy rain, water gets in under the passenger door. It pools under the carpeting (which luckily can be unbuttoned from itself, lifted out, and cleaned.. gets right down to the bare metal floor which is easily towel-dried.. but still..) This smells awful inside (akin to wet dog) and I was fed up with the pouring rain..
So I stuffed it in the barn!

Backing out should be fun.. the doorway is about 4 inches wider than the Jeep..

sounds like you should fix that leak though....you can do it yourself I betcha.

We had tested last week with a hose; mark sat inside and i let her rip. Water cale in under the passenger door. I wonder if those rubber floor guard thingies would help? There are none.
I Shop-Vacced out as much as I could; mainly it was wet in the carpeting with a glazing of water over the floor panels. But I had a pair of socks in the back floor, and they were soaked!
I wonder if I could use the caulk around the edge of the door hole?

She's a 2003.
2007's actually look a lot different; they are known as the JKs; whereas mine is a TJ. Older versions of the same basic shape are the YJ (square headlights) and CJ (what many purists consider a "true Jeep.." more rugged, bare-bones and raw.

Good thought; I have not thought of that before. I am ordering the thick, deep rubber floor mats that catch water/snow.. we have them for the Nissan in winter and they are superb. you simply dump the water right out the door out of the mat and replace They are expensive but worth every cent.
Mark will do something about the Jeep. He is obsessed with preventing water floor damage, due to talking with my neighbor, who somehow installed plastic carpet-covering-type stuff in his Dodge pickup under the carpeting to keep it dry in there. We have had two Pathfinders in the past where the driver's floor was so rotted out that reinforcing welds were needed.

First thing I'd do if it was purchased from a dealer (sorry if I can't remember the whole story) would be to call them and ask what THEY are going to do for you. Even purchased used they should be willing to fix a simple thing like that since it should have had to go through inspections already. I would push them to offer a solution and make it known that you know that if it is not fixed will potentially lead to rotting the floor boards and ruining who's knows what else (electrical).

Yeah; Mark mentioned the dealer today. It is a very reputable dealer and they have helped us in the past with problems w/ Mark's new truck and my sister's SUV.. we'll see how this goes.

I have a 99 Wrangler, and had a similar problem. The A/C hose hangs down right in front of the passenger side. My floorboard filled with water because the water dripping out of the hose would blow back into the passenger side while driving. My husband fixed it by attaching another hose to the A/C hose and securing it farther down on the outside. It took us forever to figure out what was happening. Not sure if you have the same problem. I know that the Jeep came with plastic plugs for the floor holes, I bet you could order them. http://www.quadratec.com/ This place has EVERYTHING for Jeeps - I've ordered several things.
