petbed heating mat, possible for heating snakes?

I was walking past the 1$ bin and saw a 49.99 heated petbed.

it was missing the bed but the heating pad was still in it.

it is 12 watts and attached to a 24 volt transformer.

I've had it plugged up for about 5 hours now and taken its temp with my spare acurite.. 91 degrees without wavering.

According to the directions, "do not expect this product to feel warm to the touch when bare. requires insulation to become warm. takes two hours to reach its maximum temperature."

I'm guessing 91 degrees is its maximum temp since its been way over 2 hours.

i wanted to know if, since it has its own transformer I guess to prevent shortage and cooking the petbed it should be attached to, if this is safe to use for my BPs. I can fit like THREE bins on this thing so it's really an awesome buy if I can use it this way. If not, I'll just find another pet bed to stuff it into and still will have saved money

Well.. sounds like it's pretty stable, but I'd hook it up to a thermostat anyway, just to be safe. You never know if it will overheat some day.
