    frequency of shedding?

Alright, may gal finished her last shed on 6/10 and I am already starting to see her belly go pink and darken up again. I mean, it's not even been 3 weeks yet! Her last shed came pretty soon after her previous shed as well. She looks healthy, eats like a champ, gains weight like a champ, has perfect sheds, temps/humidity spot-on... Is it uncommon/unhealthy for a bp to shed this frequently?

Here's a pic I took just a moment ago, this is quite dark for my gal... she's a bright one normally.

    Re: frequency of shedding?

Could she have gotten a burn? My thermostat malfunctioned and one of my balls got a burned belly. Soon after she started a shed after having just shed a few weeks ago. I believe that when a ball suffers any type of skin injuries, burns, bites, mites, etc they will go into a shed to, uh, repair it. For frequency it varies as they age. My young ones shed about every 2-3 months. Adults would shed less often than that.

If she were a baby, I wouldn't be surprised at such frequent shedding. But I wouldn't expect it so much in an older snake. She's still growing, though...and you say she's "putting on weight like a champ" so maybe she's going through a growth spurt? Mine is around 950 and still sheds about every 4-5 weeks.

yea, I got her in febuary when she was around 20 inches long, she's now over 3 ft long... I just remember back when I had a king snake oh so many years ago that he didn't shed nearly this often. I know it's a different species altogether, however I find 3 weeks to be quite quick turnaround.

I think you've just got a fast grower.
