Crestie questions?
Hey there just a few things, i have had a yellow flame morph for a month or two months. hes about 5-6 months old and hes doing just fine ill be posting pictures about him later. anyway i was wondering on getting a 1 year old one at petco he looks healthy but its a male and so is my other crestie. so i was wondering if it was a bad idea to get them in the same tank? also if it is a bad idea would a 10 Gal tank is big enough for a 1 year old crestie??
Thanks
-Valentine.

Re: Crestie questions?
I'm 99.9% sure you don't want to keep 2 males together...ever. I've heard some females can even be too feisty to house with another female. As for the tank... I'm not sure, but I have a single male in a 20 long that is standing on it's end... seems to work! Hop some of that helps!

Yeah bad idea, not only will males fight but you would need a quarantine tank anyway. Buying another animal (especially from a petstore) and putting him with an already established animal could cause you to lose both of them to disease or have some heafty vet bills. I would quarantine for at least 90 days if not longer.
You will need another tank if its a male though, they are territorial. I would go with a 20 gallon for an adult crestie. Ten gallons is kind of small but it would work temporarily. I keep a few juvies in ten gallon tanks and they love them but I can already tell the will be needing more room.

Re: Crestie questions?
I say get what you want! Like Kristy mentioned, quarantine is always important... I've gotten 3 out of 4 of my Cresties at shows... But if you saw one you like at a shop then get it! How's that for making no point!?!? lol

Re: Crestie questions?
Yeah get what ever catches your eye. They will calm down with handling. I have gotten two awesome cresties from Petco. Very healthy haven't had a problem yet. One just came out of quarantine and they all have a clean bill of health from the doc. So as long as the animal appears healthy, alert and a good weight don't worry about getting one from a pet shop. I wouldn't hesitate getting a fecal done though just to be sure.

Re: Crestie questions?
Yeah, I wouldn't house two males together. I keep two females in the same tank and they get along great.
Just get whatever you want!

Re: Crestie questions?
wait for the show and see what matt has. he'll have more selection than the pet store and they are guaranteed to be healthy.

Re: Crestie questions?
I agree with Emily. A choice between a Pangea bred crestie from Matt and a pet store crestie wouldn't even be a choice for me, I'd always go with Matt. He produces lovely and healthy cresties and is a very nice guy to deal with.
