Anyone have luck with velcro?
Haha, weird topic name I know.
Anyway, on to the topic..
In my snake enclosure I hate having to move things around to pull my snake out of its hide/hides when I want him to come out.
I just hate having to re-arrange everything over and over again...
so has anyone had luck with velcro? I was thinking of sticking a piece of velcro onto one of the rocks i set on top of a plastic hide so that i can pull it out as one piece instead of two...
catch my drift?
Thanks if anyone can figure out what im talking about, lol.

Re: Anyone have luck with velcro?
I tried velcro to keep the water dishes in place so they wouldn't always get dumped. One piece on the bottom of the bowl and one on the tub.
It worked in the tubs that I used newspaper in but the ones that had substrate made it a real pain to use. Substrate kept getting stuck in the velcro and causing it to not sit right and eventually not stick anymore like it should have.
For what you are looking to do with it, it probably would work. Just make sure the pieces are clean and dry before applying the velcro and make sure you use enough so it doesn't come apart if you lift it up by the top piece.

It's never really a good idea to use any kind of adhesive backed item or tape inside the viv. It will inevitably come loose and get stuck to the snake.

Re: Anyone have luck with velcro?
I use velcro to hold up the digital thermometers in my tubs so I can read them. If the snakes knock them down, just the velcro comes apart and the sticky part stays on just fine. I have however used duct tape and would definitely advise you NOT to use it. When I first got my snakes I used some duct tape to hold up the thermometers instead of the velcro, well needless to say snake + tape = bad experience.

Hi,
If you have the luxury of being able to work on the enclosure without the snake being in it then you might want to consider using silicon sealant to attatch the velcro strips to both surfaces.

Re: Anyone have luck with velcro?
I also use velcro to secure my temp. units. I would not recommend using velcro for anything with any weight. If you use velcro to secure two rocks together I could see lifting the top rock only to have the bottom rock fall on your herp.
The only thing I trust to hold two rocks together is "HoldFast"
It is a two part epoxy that you knead together and apply. It is made to work in a variety of situations, dries in 8 minutes and it is even safe for aquariums. Most well stocked aquarium stores have it for $10 a tube.

I should mention that you should still exercise caution with the epoxy products. If I am lifting rocks out of a tank I lift from the bottom.

Re: Anyone have luck with velcro?
I have used velcro to secure my temp unit for the last 4 yrs w/ no problem , also used it to help secure a pc of driftwood to the back of the ap cage when I was using it. Never had one bit of problem. I did however use industrial velcro which you can find in the electric section of Lowes/Home Depot. It is very strong velcro wise ( I use to have to use two hands and some might to pull it apart ) and adhesive wise.
I don't think I would use it for rocks.
