need help again..
well i got my ball this past Friday and my cousin came over Saturday and wanted to pick him up so he did so..i know that i should of left him alone but i wanted to hold him to..it was for only 3 min..but when i put him back in his cage he's been in his hide since Saturday afternoon till now I'm kinda worried is that normal? and i don't think hes moved because he's always in the same position and i check on him at night and he's never out..my temps are good..but my humidity is kind of low but once i mist its fine... does it bother him when i mist the tank...and i was looking to make the home made humidifier but i want to know if its worth doing.will the percentage go up a little or a lot? thanks

yeh it's typical. they like to be lazy.
Do you have a digital hygrometer to tell you exactly what your humidity is?

Hi,
How is your tank set up and what are you using to measure the humidity and temps?
Did you look at the glass tank sticky for tips in keeping the humidity up?
Have his colours darkened slightly since you first saw him?

Hi,
So what is the humidity level in the tank at the moment?
As a side point what are you using to heat it?
Have a look at him in his hide and see - dont pick him up or anything but I was just wondering why you were concerned on humidity just now and wondered if it was because he was shedding.

Re: need help again..

Re: need help again..
Ah yes,
A happy ball python is a hidden ball python.
68% would be a fine humidity level if your scaly friend was shedding - if it isn't we normally recomend around 50%
They are nocturnal as you know so your not really going to see him moving around all that much once he's settled into his new home. That's not to say you won't ever see him but it certainly won't be all day every day.

Re: need help again..
Just to confirm...yes, it's perfectly normal for it to seem like your ball python never moves. They don't make very good display pets. When they DO get out and move, it's typically late at night, so you may be sleeping and miss it. And many nights, they may not move at all....as they have to rest up for the next busy day of napping.
