I know that some of you remember the very tiny Pastel female that we hatched out of a boob egg along side our Lemon Blasts. She hatched weighing 24.0 grams. Well, about 2 weeks after hatching, she never did shed, I noticed that she had a hard belly (for those that do not know that term, her yolk solidified inside of her). I managed to palpate the solidified youlk out of her without a problem. After I palpated the yolk out, she weighed 18.5 grams. About 5 days after removing the yolk, I attempted to feed her a mouse pinkie. She did not eat it, but was looking very thin. Also I knew that having not absorbed the yolk, she would need a meal to survive. So I assist fed her, I only put the head and shoulders of the mouse into her mouth. This triggered her feeding response, and she swallowed the meal with no problems. Just a seperate note, since hatching, she had passed urates and a little solid waste. After a week of eating the assist fed mouse, I offered her another (that was this past Thursday). She did not eat the second mouse, but I didn't want to stress her, so I was going to offer again this coming Thursday.

Here is the bad news, she died on Friday. My guess is that her digestive system was not working properly, and the mouse that she swallowed probably rotted in her stomach, and killed her. Just wanted to let everybody know that she is gone. I didn't really expect her to make from the start, but we must give them every chance possible to survive.

Thanks for letting me share my story, and if anyone has any questions, please let me know.

Sincerely,
