How old can a female breed?
Hi, a friend of mine has a 10 year old normal female ball for sale. She is perfectly healthy, but I don't know if she has ever bred before. Is this too old for her to breed from now? Would it cause any complications? I have not bred any balls before, but would love to start, but maybe a younger snake? Thanks for your help.

I have a 21 year old female that gave me 10 good eggs about a month ago. She's doing great.

10 years is not too old to breed. Go for it

Aye, go for it. I have heard of females 25+ breeding with no trouble.

Re: How old can a female breed?
Thanks for all your help. I bought her last night and she's lovely! About 4ft long and just over 2kg. Think I got a good deal, paid £50 including a big viv and thermostat etc and 50 chicks. She is normal colour. If I wanted to get some different coloured morphs from her, what sort of male would I need to breed her with? Thanks for your help. Aubrey

You could buy a dominant or codominant morph male and breed them, and get 50% of that morph, and 50% normals, which would be the fastest way to get morphs--if you got a simple recessive like an albino or piebald, you could breed it to her and get all 100% hets which look normal, wait and breed the female hets back to the dad to get the morphs.

0.2 Normal "Matika", "Lara Croft"
1.0 Lesser Cinny "Thor"
