Where do I get the wires to do my heat tape?

where do i buy it and what do i ask for at the store?

Radio shack or any home store. Get you some red and black 12 gauge wire and a replacement lamp cord to finish it off with.

I just get a regular extension cord and cut off the socket end. I found that they were cheaper than the bulk wire that you buy by the foot or the replacement lamp cords.

yea a 6 foot extension cord is like $1.88 at home depot. i use those for wiring my on/off thermostats too.
you could wire each piece of flex and plug them into a power strip. that way if you are not using a shelf you can just unplug it and just that tub won't heat. or if you have say a animal with different temp requirements you can plug that tub into a diff thermostat.
just some thoughts, i don't know what you are planning. so i hope this helps.

They're even cheaper at Wal-Mart; like 96¢.
