i live in florida and our house rarely drops below 80 in the summer.

Dark periods most definitely are necessary. 24/7 of light will stress your snake out. You want constant temps 24/7 unless breeding. 82-84 on the cool side, 92-94 on the warm. An undertank heater controlled by a thermostat is your best bet.
