Re: Talk About Agressive Feeder
Yup, Torhild, pet name "Hammer". As soon as the tub slides open, her head shoots out. I'm a wuss and don't have tongs....I kinda drop the rat in her direction and she snatches it out of the air. Once she's distracted by squeezing, I push her back in so I can close the tub. She's never missed a rat yet.
She's the same one who hit a vein in my wrist when she bit me and gave me a huge purple bruise for days...hungry hungry girl.
I can get her out and clean her though...I just watch her carefully. If she keeps eating at this rate, she'll get her first boy this fall. :-)

Re: Talk About Agressive Feeder
I wasn't even feeding two days ago, and Dandylion came flying out! (I only opened it 2 inches for heavens sakes!!) She's still miffed that she missed a week of food while I was out of town. But otherwise she's exactly the same EVERY week. You gotta have that food ready to drop the absolute second you slide that tub open.

Re: Talk About Agressive Feeder
The other day, one of my females did that, it wasn't even feeding day. She was all in the S position ready to strike. I calmed her down and then took her out. Tense moments : )

Re: Talk About Agressive Feeder
I think I remember Jamie posting pics of a few of his doing the hanging out of the tub coiled on prey thing. Amazing how these relatively lazy, slow moving snakes can become pure energy when they are hunting.

Re: Talk About Agressive Feeder
And this is why I use 12" hemostats even though I feed live. To fend off the "bitey things" that aren't fuzzy
Little Wirenth, even at 300g(or whatever she weighs now.. she's a fatty), JUMPS out of the tub and tries to nail me everytime I go to feed. Any of you feeding box people want to come try and feed her? Heh. I can't even do the stealthy SWAT team thing you are doing Jo, as she means business. I have to hold her back with the hemostats and drop the mouse in the corner where she isn't looking, then I quickly close the tub.
