What would a Spider X Spider produce?

Ahh yes that's what I figured. Thanks!

Re: Genetic Brain Fart
Ahh yes but what would the probabilities of getting a normal or spider be? That question is hard to answer with no proven homozygous spiders lying around.
~ 1.0.0 Python regius ~ Wild-type ~
~ 1.0.0 Canis familiaris ~ Blue Italian Greyhound ~
~ 0.0.9 Danio rerio~ Wild-type and Glofish

75% spiders w/33% of them likely to be a Homozygous spider, if there is such thing. If one of the breeder spiders is homo., than 100% spiders, half of them also homo.

I'm also suprised it hasn't been proven one way or the other yet. I'd like to breed for them if they are proven.

Re: Genetic Brain Fart
Hard to prove without a visual...you'd have to "prove" it by breeding it.
I'd say the odds of a heterozygous spider (don't get confused) throwing all spider babies over a sample size of 10-20 eggs would be very, VERY slim. Doing a statistical analysis, I think those numbers would fall into an acceptable level of certainty that an animal that produced like that could fairly be considered a homozygous spider.
Who knows though? I just know I like spiders....

That's the if that complicates the genetic math my friend. Hoever, as I said before...I do not beleive in the homozygous lethal idea anymore.

Re: Genetic Brain Fart
Have you heard some indications that there is a homozygous spider? Certainly the lack of one doesn't prove anything but I’m wondering if some new evidence has leaked out.
The odds of a heterozygous spider X normal going 10 for 10 in it's first offspring all being spider is 1 in 1024. The odds of going 20 for 20 is 1 in 1,048,576.
