I am a hair dummy.
As I rapidly close on 40 and my body has betrayed me, I have finally started to care about my hair.
Anyway, I recently went on vacation, and for the first time got a hair cut at a spa. I walked out of there a changed person, and with an armload of miracle products.
I went home and did a bunch of research to confirm what the spa had told me and it turns out there is a whole lot of stuff I didn't realize all my life about how to have healthy hair.
So Kara and other hair-lovers listen up!
1) never brush wet hair...use only a comb. brushes will put much more force on the hair and lead to more breakage/hair loss
2) brush dry hair with Boar bristle brush with a rubber base! The boar bristles will smooth your hair shafts and redistribute your natural oils. They are also anti-static. And, the bristles and rubber base comply well to your head, giving your scalp a great massage which will increase blood flow and stimulate hair growth. I shopped around and bought this one: http://www.amazon.com/Cricket-Finish...2113736&sr=1-1
I love to use it - it feels so good!
3) moisture! my hair is dry, so I am now doing hot oil treatments once every few weeks. I also switched to a milder shampoo and better conditioner.
4) OMG Shine Drops!!!!!!!! This stuff is a miracle. You ever see those TV ads where the model swings her hair around and it's like a perfect cascade of sillk? I never had that before until I tried this stuff. It's basically a silicon that you rub into damp hair. Now your hair is like teflon! And it lasts all day! I am so thrilled with this product. This one is the one I have tried but I am sure there are other brands: http://www.amazon.com/Steiner-Shine-...2113555&sr=8-3
5) Dying your hair actually thickens it!
Anyway, I feel like a geek now![]()
