    cresties and tub

i was just wondering if crested geckos do well in tubs? if so what size tub? i assume it would need to be a taller kind, like what arboreal boas/pythons use.

juvies can be kept in 20qt tubs and adults in 66qt tubs. for hatchlings i use small or medium kritter keepers instead of tubs. you need to drill or melt a good number of holes in the tubs for ventilation or it gets moldy from misting pretty quickly. you can also cut out a portion of the lid and replace it with a fine mesh for good ventilation.

    Re: cresties and tub

well since i moved my corn snakes into a rack, i have a couple open aquariums. and i have been reading about crested geckos and they seem like an awesome animal that i just might have to get one. i read about flipping a 10 gal on its side and i think that what i am going to be doing. tubs seem to be better suited for snakes, but since cresties like climbing room i think the 10 gal would be a good fit.

also i have read about how bad some (i'll repeat some) pet stores keep their snakes, but what about crested geckos? i i looked at breeders and contacted a few. but i was just curious, a petco by me sells cresties now and i was just wondering if it would be a safe bet to pick one up?

    Re: cresties and tub

it really just depends on the store. are the cages clean well kept looking? what about the actual geckos? are they healthy looking? i.e., good weight, no stuck shed, no loose, wrinkly skin or sunken eyes (this is a sign of dehydration), no wounds or signs of fighting or abuse, clean cloacal area, bright clear eyes, no signs of MBD--rubbery jaw, kinked spine and/or tail, etc.
