New substrate, couple of questions

I changed my balls substrate from aspen to T-rex cypress mulch in hopes it will help with humidity. Do I need to keep it slightly damp like it is out of the bag? I also set up a rubbermaid hide with cypress in the bottom and some damp moss on top so she can bury in it, this is on the cool side. Do you think the humid hide is necessary? I don't want her to be too damp.

You should know if it is to humid in your tub if you are using a hydrometer (measures humidity).

You can have you substrate damp (if humidity is in 60% range) but you do not want it sopping wet. This can case scale issues such as scale rot, belly rot ect.

I have a humid hide, but that is because I need one as humidity isn't always 50-60% throughout my cage but is in the humid hide.

So if you don't have a good hydrometer....invest in one.

I'm planning on getting a hydrometer soon. I know the humidity has been low though, its fairly dry here and my ball in in a glass tank.

Scale rot was the reason I needed to know how damp to keep the cypress, I think I'll just let it dry out and keep the humid hide.
