    New Species Discovered!

I saw this headline on MSN and though it was way cool. Take a look at the article and the slide show.

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19028712?GT1=10056

NOTE: Some of these aren't herps... but there are some cool frogs/toads and a snail eating snake.

Awesome sideshow there...Love that first ant and the colorful frogs...Those photos certainly pay homage to this quote by Charles Darwin:

“From so simple a beginning, endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.”

That region of Suriname certainly seems like an area to think about conserving......Phylogenetics can certainly help in making some of the hard local conservation decisions.

Those purple dart frogs are cute. I also like that catfish with the awesome camo.

and I cant believe I'm saying this since I work at a pest control place, but that very first picture of the ant is kinda cute too

I did research on a species of atelopus in COsta Rica, many of the group of Atelopus have disapeared. due to chytrid fungus and global warming. this is a great thing for those toads.
