    One more PaM question...sorry!

I apologize for making multiple posts, but I have just one more question.

After I use the Provent-a-Mite as a precautionary thing, how do I feed my snakes? I usually just plop a frozen/thawed rat in with each snake and leave them alone. I don't use seperate feeding enclosures, anymore, now that I have 5 snakes (and one is 5'4" and has been fed in his enclosure his whole 5 years of life and has done perfectly fine with this, so i don't know how he'd react if i tried a seperate enclosure. don't want to get bit trying to get him back in his home afterward!). Would I have to after using this product?

Well, I guess just one question was a bit of a lie. I'm also curious as to how to use this product on newspaper substrate. Just spray it on? I know, it has to dry, but what I'm having trouble processing is...newspapers have layers. Do I spray between layers? Both sides? Just one side? I'm confused about this.

    Thanks in advance!

Give it a few minutes to dry and put your snake back in and you are good to go. As for spraying, just spray the top layers. The mites will die off soon
    lots of snakes

I would wait at least a few hours to dry that stuff is pretty potent.

Thank you both for your responses!

I decided I'd do it this morning. I'm anticipating purchasing a new snake (from a breeder), which will be quarantined and treated just like my current snakes, but I'm just not sure when I will make the move to add to my collection. Not only that but I was in a pet store not long ago and there were mites on a few of their snakes (they're being treated, though! don't worry!)...I've been paranoid ever since, thinking maybe one or a few hitched a ride home with me. I haven't seen any, so I may just be freaking out, but I'm so anxiety-ridden, I can't stand it!

All enclosures are outside and it's been about an hour. I stuck my entire head in each one and they seem to have no fumes left in them. I touched the newspapers and they are dry, as far as I can tell, but I'm not quite done with other housework/animal work, so they'll be out there for a lot longer. Sometimes I feel like we have a zoo, here! But, it's a time-passer and I see nothing wrong with that.

Be careful and don't take chances with the pet store snakes. Most pet stores don't use PAM and it is the only thing proved to kill mites in all stages of life. Things like Reptile Relief and MiteOff only kill adult mites
    lots of snakes

That woman whom likes to flirt with me every time I cook! I keep telling her no, Olive Oil is better, but she just won't give it a rest!

I specified Provent-A-Mite in my post, though.

Also, I don't trust pet store snakes much at all. This little pet store is the best in my area, and I wasn't planning on purchasing a snake from them in any case. That's why I said I was planning to purchase from a breeder, just wasn't sure when I wanted to. I had just gone into that pet store to get yogurt chips for my rabbit and rats and I was curious, so I walked over to the reptiles and saw the mites. I got SO freaked out that I may bring them home to my collection. Then I realized I'd never pretreated any new snakes for mites, just always did quarantine/vet check. I mean, yes, we could've caught them, but the thought of me not having done anything in advance to protect my current collection against mites horrified me. I still feel like a terrible snake mom.
