Temp probe
Whooo!!! I have internet again!!! haha I had to go home and they don't have the internet anymore...I was going to the library, but it didn't load this site half the time... I missed all the snakey pictures!!
Anyways, on to my question...I have an acu-rite thermometer, which has always worked great for me, but my girl pulled the probe off the floor of her hide a while back. The double sided tape stuff that it came with was covered in substrate when I saw it, so I just took it off. So can I just tape it to the floor of her tank, or does there need to be a layer of that tape or something between the probe and the glass. And is it ok to put tape in her tank at all? I was thinking that it would work anyways for a bit, but I'm getting crazy temps depending on where she moves the probe

Re: Temp probe
How are you heating the tank and controlling that heat? If you have a reliable heat source hooked up to a reliable thermostat...once you know it's set up right, you don't have to worry so much about the thermometer. The temps will be right in the right places, no matter where the thermometer probe is moved to.

Re: Temp probe
i have a CHE on the cool side and a UTH on the warm side. I didn't worry about it too much before now b/c the temps do stay stable and I wasn't worried about it. but I moved back to OK yesterday and I need to make sure the temps get up to where they should be and stay there again. I seems pretty stable now, but my room here is quite a bit cooler than it was at home, so I want to make sure, accurately, that her temps aren't too low.

Yes but are any of them connected to a thermostat?
Oh and try and avoid using tape in the cage - nasty things can happen.
You could try putting a rock over the cable just behind the probe to see if that holds it in place.
