the smaller the better... but they will grow out of it, so you best bet is just to use homemade hides. i use plastic flower pot bottoms i get at walmart for $.88, or you can use terra cotta pots, coolwhip containers, small plastic bowls, ect.
you also can try reptilesupply.com and look at the small plastic black hides, they're like $2-3.
also take a look at this thread, it'll show you just how small balls like their hides: http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ight=hide+size

Re: small or medium cave? asap.
i just got a cb baby ball at superpet, it's my first snake, i got the large hide and the large water bowl, he seems to like them, i have a rough understanding of how to take care of sna,kes but there's still things im a little worried about, i bought a brick of coconut substrate, i soaked it in water till it expanded, then put it in the aquarium, it still seems pretty damp and im afraid of causing scale rot, will this do it?

If its sopping wet constantly, then yes you can cause scale rot, not to mention maybe a respitory infection ( if the substrate is too cold ) whats your temps and humidity at right now?

Yes, consistant wetness can cause scale rot and respiratory problems. You could put your BP on some news paper until the coconut dries out a little.
Also: you need two smaller hides that are snug to your bp. Here's a thread with a proper setup for a BP. Make sure to read it carefully.
