confused???

i pritty much called this season off, and was almost positive i wouldnt get eggs from any of my girls, except for one that really confuses me. about maybee a month ago i noticed what i thought was an ovulation, and about two weeks ago i got a shed, but the female does not look that gravid so again i was discouraged and didnt think much of it and still really dont cause it seems late in the season. last night however i was looking through some feeding records and looked at some of her last meals before she went into cooling, towards the end of september when i was pounding her with food on a full stomach she was 1508 grams and out of cooling on empty she is 1714 grams she has had one small meal since beeing brought out of cooling but that was about a month ago and i weighed her last night so my question is do you think shes gravid???

yep. Ovualtion, shed when she has only had one meal? GRAVID. Babies in a few weeks.

yep she did shed with only one meal in her stomach this year if thats what you ment?, so should i put a nest box in soon?

Usually they lay about 3-5 weeks after the shed, so I think you'd have to look at dates and have it in in time. Not so sure on the whole Nest box thing.

Just because a snake does not eat does not mean it will not shed. I have had a female go 13 months without food and she still shed twice during that time.

Codie, If you post a pic it should be pretty easy to tell if she is gravid. Have you palpated her?

John is there some special secret or method to palpating? i feel her alot and am not quite sure. ill post some pics as soon as i take them but thats another reason i dont think she could be gravid she doesnt really look like it. i also really dont have the trained eye or the experience with breeding snakes ive got eggs from my old colubrids one other time but im sure that really doesnt compare to pythons.
