    How long to adjust?

How long should I give my new ball python to adjust before I handle him? I just got him home a few hours ago. Plus, I am new to the board and to the world of owning herps. I had two corn snakes in the past, but I don't know a whole lot about ball pythons. Thanks!

    Re: How long to adjust?

I'm a new owner. Ours got handled heaps on the first day while getting his cage set up, showing him to the kids, etc. After than I think I gave him a 1 or 2 day break. I've never had any probs with feeding or getting bit or anything. Personally, I think a little assertiveness on your part is OK provided the snake isn't obviously freaking out.

Once you bring them home its best to leave them alone for at least 7 days. The only time you bother them is to change the water or to clean up poo. Then after the 7 days try to see if it will eat for you.If not leave it alone another 7 days. Its best to get them eating at least 2+ meals consistantly before handling them.Congrats and welcome to the group

Thanks! I am excited. I want to handle him SO much, but I remember how it stressed my corn snakes out when I first got them, so I'm definitely going to give him time.
