Tub size?
My homeboy Snakey is coming in at 28 inches. His 10 gallon long aquarium right now is exactly 2/3 his length. I think he is ready for a size upgrade. Although after looking around and being over constantly seeing my homey I want to move to a tub setup. Plus the glass tank is a struggle to maintain temps.
I am just unsure of what size tub I am looking for. I plan on ordering from this website: http://www.reptiletubs.com/
Could someone take a peek and recommend me a tub size.
Also does anyone know of a reasonably priced t-stat that is quality?
Thanks in advance!

Do you have a weight from him? I have seen people with snakes up to 500 g in a 6 qt tub. The Johnson Controls or Rancos are the most cost efficient that I would buy. I had one of those ESU and the temps fluctuated 10*.

Re: Tub size?
Sorry I don't have a means of measuring his weight. I'd say he is about a year old give or take some months. He is not skinny or fat, just a nice even/chubby bp.

Kitchen scales? - if you put him in a pillowcase or anything first to control the wrigglin remember to weigh the empty case first along with the bowl or whatever.

Personally I would recommend a CB30. At 28" your snake is still fairly small and this size tub will last him till he is 3'-3.5' in length. I use this same size for all my yearling females and smaller breeder males.

Re: Tub size?
For BP that size I use sterilite 32 quarts tubs (23 1/2"L x 16 1/4"W x 6 3/8"H) from walmart and once full grown I would recommend the Iris CB 70.
As far far as T-Stat remember that if it is cheap you often get what you pay for and I would recommend nothing less then at least a Ranco or Johnson T-stat that you can find here http://www.reptilebasics.com/store/home.php?cat=250

I use the same tubs, Ranco's are ok for the $ but I'm a herpstat man for life now.

Re: Tub size?
Thanks for the help folks. I like the locking mechanism on the 'ReptileTubs'. I'm also glad that two people recommended me nearly the same size tub.
Now for t-stats...
Is there any real difference between the 'Ranco ETC-111000 Pre Wired' and the 'Johnson Controls Thermostat A-419'? They are the same price and seem to have the same features? Is one just better? I am really digging the Herpstat t-stats. I want the 2 t-stat model. But right now $300 is out of my price range. I am willing to spend $100 though for a good t-stat.
And my final question, is it just consensus to place the t-stat probe between the tub and element? Then just set a higher setting, as opposed to it being placed in the tub at risk of being relocated or "rat munched"?

Re: Tub size?
T-Stat should be used depending on your needs, I plan on breeding in the near future so I have an herpstat ND but I also have a Ranco as a back-up.
Herpstat is proportional and constenly adjusts the temps to keep them constant.
Ranco will cut on an off allowing fluctuations.
